In 2010, Panasonic announced that it would be ceasing produciton of the Technics 1200 series turntable. This may or may not mean much to you, but if you have ever seen a DJ spinning real vinyl they were probably using the Technics 1200 series tables. I even had a pair of Technics when I was in school. They were beautiful. I remember one time…sorry, on with the article.
The 1200s had been around for almost 40 years, an incredible lifespan for the technology and a testament to its legendary status for build quality.
Now, thanks to Scott Schiller’s time and energy, a tribute to the 1200s can live on. This innovative site utilizes only JS, CSS3 and HTML5 to create a neat interactive turntable UI that you can play with.
Scott has also been kind enough to lay out all of the code that he used to make this possible. You will definitely want to check this out. I recommend viewing in Chrome, but Safari should work too. Just use Chrome. Check out the site here and how he did it here.
